Francis Duggan Your Hero

Francis Duggan's purpose for writing the poem "Your Hero," is to epitomize the idea that famous people aren't the only heroes in the world. It is often the ordinary man or woman who is willing to take extraordinary risks without asking or wanting any glory. According to Duggan, heroes come from all walks of life, some well-known and some unsung like the poem states. Several characters from the books read in class depict the concept that: what makes someone a hero is a personal and unique. Not every hero is a hero to everybody.

The line "Yet there are millions of unsung heroes and they live on every street," fits the description of Percy Jackson in The Lightning Thief. As he and his friends were roaming the waterbed shop, Annabeth and Grover
