Francesca Chavez SPS Class Analysis

Improved Essays
This is Francesca Chavez, a QUANT/REASON/TECH/LIT II student. I have learned a lot from this course. Before this class I was only familiar with certain aspects of excel and very familiar with SPSS. Since I am a psychology major, the SPSS unit was just a review from material I have learned in pervious courses. I have learned a lot about the tricks to excel and access. Before this course I have never even heard of the data entry program called Access. Now, I will admit this was my most difficult unit because of how strict the program run. But, overall, I’m glad I’m familiar with the program so I can use the skills I learned and apply it to my future learning. I would say one of the most important things I have learned from this course is not

As I looked over my 13 years of life, I have come to the conclusion that I am a somewhat privileged person. Our family hasn’t had problems with food, or keeping a roof over our heads. I have had the advantages of going to school without a problem, summer camps, tennis, and the video games I play. The only real disadvantage I see is affording for college. It is a lot of money, so I am expected to get scholarship.…

Hello Prof. Shaw, I'm afraid that I'm having difficulties with Katherine Conway’s ENG 309 class, and I was hoping you could advise me. First, I received a poor grade on a paper recently that will certainly hurt my grade significantly and I was wondering what grade I needed to get in the class for it to count towards my creative writing and literature major? I'm afraid I may get a C. Second, when I met with Prof. Conway this past Friday to find out exactly why my grade was so low she spoke to me in a loud, harsh, and overbearing tone that, combined with her demeaning and accusatory language, crossed the line into emotional abuse. I was holding back tears minutes into our conversation; before I left she stated that she did not understand why I did not understand the prompt and that she could not give me a better grade until I figured it out. I barely made it out of her office before tears were rolling down my face and by the time I made it back to my room I was sobbing uncontrollably.…

Throughout the class Education 210- Intro to educational technology, we have learned a variety of different ways on how to educate our students. The three main teaching styles that we have learned are direct instruction, inquiry-based learning and cooperative learning. In order to teach grade 12 social; the relationship between identity and ideology, I will incorporate all three of these teaching styles into my lesson plan in order to effectively reach out to all the students learning styles. VUSM Class Analysis

Coming in to taking this VUSM class I thought it would just be another required VUSM that I just wanted to get through and get an easy A. This class not only taught me about people who lived differently than me, but it gave me the chance to put myself into somebody else’s shoes in ways I never would have done without this class. Other VUSM classes require you to find a place to volunteer at and count a certain amount of hours and those places are nice and you have the possibility to learn a lot about things, but the way Frank Kronke set up this class it made you learn a lot more about yourself as a person than it did anything else. We learned about how we view the world and the power we have to change things that need changing. We learned a…

Hi Sydney! I can totally relate being a student leaves little to no room to do anything extra, let alone teach reformer classes. Base on your goals I have no doubt that you'll be successful. There are a lot of health professionals in my family and if I decide to move to New York I have a "guaranteed" job. Great decision in watching your mother's reformer class at least you'll keep yourself informed, so that when you do have the time to teach the class you'll have the foundations.…

How would people react to an experiment that would affect them for the rest of their lives? In the year of 1968, a documentary by the title of A Class Divided was conducted by a world famous third grade teacher Jane Elliot. Shortly after Martin Luther King Jr. passed away, Mrs. Elliot had a brilliant idea that she was going to change other people’s understanding about discrimination. She directed a two day experiment in her third grade class about students with blue eyes versus students with brown eyes. Operating this blue eye and brown eye experiment, has not only changed her third grade students opinions regarding people's prejudice, but has gone viral teaching others many lessons about discrimination.…

However, despite providing a class schema that has been highly influential in class analysis, the occupational based class schema “does not effectively capture the role of social and cultural processes in generating class divisions” (Savage et al, 2013:221). Subsequently, instead of using employment relations the Great British Class Survey sought to build a model of class that incorporated the multidimensional aspects of class based on economic, cultural and social capital (Devine and Snee, 2015). Taking on a positivist approach, The Great British Class Survey was designed to develop detailed measures of economic, cultural and social capital. Cultural capital was operationalised into questions about leisure interest, music taste, use of the…

I was raised in a wealthy neighborhood that was near lower class neighborhoods consisting of mostly minority families. I was fortunate enough to have a personal computer, a cell phone and other technologies that aided me in my education as well as my social life, but many of my friends did not have the same conveniences. Classism is something I’m extremely familiar with, because many of my friends and colleagues were affected by not having access to the internet or a computer at home. I remember specific times friends of mine couldn’t complete homework assignments, because they didn’t have access to a computer at home. At the time, I didn’t think too much of it, but in writing this assignment I realized how hard many things in life were for my friends that didn’t have access to the internet or a computer 24/7.…

Excel isn’t something I have used often in the past. I took a computer class in high school, which is similar to the one I am in now. It was broke down into two different classes, taught by two different teachers. One teacher taught Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint, while the other taught Excel. It has been several years since I took that course, therefore this course is a great refresher, and will help me not only in my college career, but in my daily life as well.…

Throughout the course, I learned different aspects of project management, and skills that can be used in the everyday life as long as involve interacting with other people. In this class I learned about how to be a better team member. This semester I was reminded of how important communication is and how people need to keep emphasizing it as one of the most important skills any person could possesses. The personality test was useful, I think it gave all of us a good way to start to see how everyone is different. It made it easier for each of us to better understand one another in how our unique personalities can be a challenge when working with others.…
