Is there more to intelligence than commonly thought? According to Webster’s Dictionary, intelligence is defined as “the ability to learn or understand things or to deal with new or different situations.” However, a psychologist by the name of Howard Gardner believes that there are in fact nine different types of intelligence in this world. The theory of these intelligences allows the world to understand how students and people in general learn and understand concepts in different ways. He wrote about these diverse styles of intelligence in his book “Frames of Mind” where he declares:
"We are all able to know the world through language, logical-mathematical analysis, spatial representation, musical thinking, the use of the body to solve problems

These people “think in terms of physical space.” In my life, I tend to think that I have always used a lot of spatial intelligence in my daily life. When I was younger, I became very passionate about drawing. In fact, I remember receiving one distinct town award for my artwork when I was in Kindergarten. I was prompted to create a piece of art that included all of the wildlife I could find in my local park. Needless to say, I, along with another boy from my class, won the grand prize in Middlesex County in our age group. However, my art skills followed me later in life as well. Throughout high school, I had taken many art and drafting classes and aspired to be an architect in the future. From taking these courses, It is clear to see that I have used a lot of spatial intelligence throughout my entire …show more content…
Interpersonal intelligence provides the brainpower that allows individuals to interact with others. As stated before, this intelligence helped me to connect and work with my other teammates on my school’s cheerleading team. Other than working with others when I had to, for tasks such as school projects or games in gym class, I never found myself to be a social person. Rather, I was always more in tune with my intrapersonal intelligence, the seventh core intelligence. This is found in many people who are shy or tend to keep to themselves. I wouldn’t consider myself a loner, but I did tend to stray from others and enjoyed having time alone to read, write, or even self-reflect. My intrapersonal intelligence allows me to remain content by myself for a long period of time. In fact, not only do I enjoy some time alone, I also find that I am most productive when left by myself. Overall, I am very in tune with my intrapersonal

Introduction Definitions of intelligence vary among scholars, theorists, and laypersons, due to its multidimensionality. However, intelligence typically involves an individual’s ability to learn from experience and adapt to the environment in which they live. I believe that the construct of intelligence should encompass an individual’s ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form, to think logically, and to express creativity. Two intelligence tests in which I recently had the opportunity to take and score included the Shipley Institute of Living Scale-2 and the Wonderlic Personnel Test.…

In the textbook on page 61 it is stated that “Our ever-alert brain attempts to make sense of the activity, pasting the random bits of information into a meaningful image.” After reading this sentence I was immediately reminded of a friend of mine who I will refer to as Katie in this assignment. Some time ago she spoke to me of an unusual and mysterious dream that she had the night before. She explained that her dream began with her and the whole neighborhood being locked inside their houses by fear from some type of monster that was roaming the neighborhood. After she dreamt this, the scene changed into an empty road with a kitten in the middle of the road.…

About four years ago I was playing club lacrosse for the Villanova Wildcats travel team. I was about thirteen years old when I experienced one of my first significant lessons of failure. At a young age many do not understand the importance of failures and short comings, and how it is essential to learn, grow, and improve. We think success comes easy and without trial which is not realistic. My life changing failure taught me many things: the strength of teamwork, the power of preparation and will, and how to be a better competitor.…

When recounting the past four years, I find that I am proud of half of that time, and embarrassed of the other. When thinking back to my first year of high school, I cringe in disappointment at the recollection of my younger self. I was the stereotypical teenager- I held no regard to important things in life, but instead lived for pleasure, making horrible choices along the way. However, since then I have undergone a long, treacherous journey that I can thank for my complete transformation. I was naturally an intelligent, hard-working young woman, but I cared too little for my education.…

It was when I got a mountain bike for Christmas that we went on a bike riding trip to University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). I thought I was going to injure myself and never move again after the bike riding trip. The journey went better than I expected, until we approached a muddy dirt path we had go across. The muddy path made me indecisive about where to ride on the path or if I should just go home. I cautiously went in the muddy path.…

Beau Taplin once wrote, “Whoever said the small things don’t matter has never seen a match start a wildfire.” With 7.4 billion people in the world, it is easy to convince oneself that your actions don’t make a difference but with one voice, one action, one moment in time we can shatter this misconception and set the world ablaze. In my experience, more often than not the best gift is the one you can pass on and share with the world. The steps we take as individuals to make the world a little bit brighter help to warm our hearts as well.
