I decided to use four major themes when writing this review. The four that I chose are Bodies, The Smurfette Principle, Damsel in Distress, and Women in the Refrigerator. While Optimus Prime is fighting Cade, Tessa, and Lucas escape with Tessa's boyfriend, Shane, in his car. After a long car chase, they get to safety. Lucas, unfortunately, gets killed by one of Lockdown's grenades, though. While Cade, Tess, and Shane are at a place of safety, Optimus Prime assembles all the other Autobots that were in hiding (Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs). Meanwhile, Cade hacks into a drone he took from the attack back at his house. He learned about an incorporation that is associated with Cemetery Wind called KSI ( Kinetic Solutions Incorporation). So they (Cade, Tessa, Shane) end up breaking into the KSI building to learn more about it. They find out that KSI has been taking parts of dead Transformers and Megatron's detached head, and making their own Transformer named Galvatron, who is supposed to resemble Optimus Prime but instead looks more like Megatron. The Autobots come into the building but ends up leaving shortly after being convinced that the Autobots are no longer needed because KSI can make their own transformer,

Military science fiction has grown up over the years. Gone are the days when a simple plot would suffice. Readers demanded more of an intricate story, something they can proverbially sink their teeth into. Because of this demand, story plots developed into more complex themes than in earlier years. In the stories presented this semester, story lines varied, but there was always once central theme in each story: survival.…

Thelma and Louise, a film by Carolyn Ann Khouri, trails the liberations of two working class women in the 90’s. These women plan a weekend away from the men in their lives due to the fact that Thelma’s husband is a misogynistic man who feels that a woman’s job consists only of housework and cooking. In the first scene of the movie Thelma wants to ask her husband, Darryl, for permission to go on the trip with Louise. He yells at her and she quickly changes the subject. In my opinion, this is one of the most crucial scenes in the entire film because it outlines the sexism and discrimination that these two women will face throughout the course of the movie.…

In the film Cast Away, Robert Zemeckis creates a collection of recurrent symbols and motifs that reoccur throughout the film and portray a sense of theme. Motif is an idea, object, or symbol that could be physically represented as objects, images, or sound that is repeated and also shows a meaning or importance of a theme or idea, throughout the story. For example, in Cast Away a repeated motif which represents a theme of time is the repeated use of clocks, watches, and the egg timer. Symbols, which are objects that represent an idea, are similar to motifs, but are not repeated in a meaningful pattern. Using these concepts Zemeckis creates these complex motifs and symbols that can represent ideas and themes in the film.…

In the movie I, Robot we are introduced to a long debated philosophical question: “What makes a human being human?”. Is the essence of mankind the fact that we are biologically unique among the myriad of different species on this planet? Is it the fact that we seem to have transcended our baser needs in order to try and make the world fit us as opposed to us fitting into the world around us? Is it perhaps that we have what people would call a “soul”? Or is it possibly that we were said to have either evolved from our animal counterparts, the primates, in order to be what we consider better?…
