The fourth national value is individualism-collectivism national value. In the United States of America are more individualism because they prefer to work and take care of themselves. They will also question what supervision tells them what to do and also are more confrontational. Mexico values more collectively. I personally like to work in a team and take care of my team mates. I have a co-worker that he has several doctors’ appointments. I always send him home early so he can take care of his personal needs. Even though when I have appointments I will not go home early to help him out because I know that he has a lot of personal stress and issues. Dr. Bruce Tuckman study the team dynamics and notice during the team building you can encounters five different phases. The first time I heard of the stages of team building was during the Airman Leadership School back in year 2003. I was not mature enough to understand why it was important. Then at the Non-commissioned Officer Academy in the 2009. Learning again the team building is necessary because not knowing the stages can be between having a good team to a perfect team. Understanding this stage you will realize that things can turn into a heated communication because members tend to be hostile and argumentative. You will also notice mini teams within the group. This is when the team leader needs to step up his game to clarify the team member’s expectations. During a team project of the class we saw two individuals fighting because one person was working longer hours than the other person. This could have been prevent it if the leader could off inform us that he was going through a divorce and the spouse was leaving him. Even though it was a personal issue the leader could off said something to us without getting into details. I learned from this incident that if something is bother me or to one of my subordinates to speak
