Castaway (2000) by Robert Zemeicks, is a heartfelt story about a middle-aged man called Chuck Noland becoming stranded on an island after surviving a horrific plane crash. This is a strong and simple story surrounded by needless complications. This adventure/drama film is suitable for all ages and is sure to be felt by all who watches. The characters and the setting of the film help create this film into an extraordinary film about a man and his will to survive.
The director, Robert Zemeckis, is known for his Back to the Future films and the award-winning Forest Gump. These films are known for their great imagery of time travel and the life and love story of a veteran. In this film, Robert has reverted to a story of survival and adventure with a whole lot of drama.

The main character Chuck Noland is a FedEx executive on a FedEx flight across the Pacific. His flight is blown off course before crashing after an on-board explosion. Chuck survives the crash, and floats in a life raft to a deserted island. He has to learn to survive on the island as he tries to remember childhood lessons about fire making and building shelter. He makes use of the contents of several FedEx boxes that washed up with him. He paints a face on a volleyball and names it Wilson, Wilson becomes his only friend and only excuse to talk out loud. His powerful determination to return to his beloved partner Kelly keeps him alive for four years until a piece of plastic washes up and gives him the idea of using it as a sail. He builds a raft and escapes the island. He is picked up by a passing container ship only to return to find that his wife has moved
