To do this they can set up a carpooling system for the business owners. This system could be set up by who lives in what neighborhood as well as where their businesses are located. Those who live close together and work close together will participate in a carpool with the others. With residents in the community participating in a carpooling system they will be able to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emitted by each resident driving to and from work every day. They should not stop at simply providing extra businesses for the tourists, options to rent bicycles to ride instead of driving cars around, creating retention ponds to try to provide safety for not only the residents from flooding but the tourists as well, and providing the option for more recreational water activities. The residents and property owners should continue to try to make their community greener. By making their community greener the residents of the community will be helping to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions they are creating, which in turn will be helping to prevent global warming. By helping to prevent global warming they are given a greater chance of preventing rising sea levels, climate changes, and storm surge events that may cause damage to their community. The community should also be sure that they are prepared in the event of a natural disaster. In order for them to be prepared for this they will need to make sure that some of the excess water the community has gained from moving water from the new retention ponds that have been built, through water purification plants is stored in water towers. This stored water will be able to be distributed to residents and tourists in the event of an emergency that may pollute their normal source of water.
