In the view of many, Genocide is very terrible thing, but without it the world 's history would be very different. An infamous genocide occurred during World War II when the Nazi’s tried to exterminate the Jews. After the war in 1948, genocide was declared an international crime. Genocide would then be used to describe what happened in Rwanda. Genocide is found in many fictional books like Unwind. The word genocide means “the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group”. The term genocide wasn’t created until after World War II. One of these novels is Unwind. In the book Unwind there is no genocide but it plays a role. Unwinding is dismantling the human body so that its parts can be used on other people. People can be unwound from the ages 13 to 18. The society in the book believes that once someone is unwound they are not really dead, but rather alive in other people. This is genocide because they follow the same steps as genocide. The first step is classification. They classify the unwinds as bad kids who don 't listen to authority. Then the next step symbolization, occurs when they give the unwinds the name unwinds. After this they continue to dehumanization. They do this when the unwinds are always frowned upon and the tithes are applauded. Another step, organization occurs when the unwinds are grouped before being unwound. They are monitored and forced to exhibit their strengths. Then they continue to the next step, polarization. This is when the people encourage people to unwind bad kids. After that the next step is preparation. They do this by putting them in the harvest camps, to be killed. The next step is extermination, this is when the people unwind the kids. The final step is denial, this is when they claim the people are not
