There are many themes in the book The House On Mango Street , but I am only gonna tell you about one theme in the book. The passage Four Skinny Trees holds the theme that I will be talking about. In this passage, the theme is identity.
Esparza is giving the people a message of identity. She is using personification by giving the trees human characteristics. She tells us about how they have hairy toes and skinny bodies. Also, how their ferocious roots grab the earth and their teeth bite away at the sky.
