Four Philosophies Of Education

Good Essays
The world is constantly changing around us, so why shouldn’t we change with it? This is the mentality of progressives; progressives are people who believe that nature is constantly changing and if that’s happening what’s to keep knowledge from doing the same? Knowledge is what helps people get through life and what allows people to be successful at whatever they strive for, after all the more people know the more successful they are. Progressives view the mind as something that is there to help guide them trough difficulties, so that people know what decisions to take when the situation arises. While reading about the four philosophies’ I couldn’t help but relate so much to progressives and in this essay I will explain why I believe that about …show more content…
I plan on teaching them by relating my lectures to examples based on their interests, as in sports, music, and so on. I plan on teaching math which sometimes students view as difficult and boring, but I plan on making my class interesting by making my lectures revolve around my students where there is constant participation or group work. Working in groups will help them get a little more practice and get familiar with the people in the classroom, this will help because they will feel more comfortable and this will bring the classroom together as a whole to where they can help each other based on their strengths and weaknesses. Many times students feel like they can do whatever they want because the teacher allows them a bit of freedom. They abuse this freedom and consequences arise from that. Mistakes will be made in classrooms as in life too, so a student talking is okay as long as it is based on what we are discussing in class. Students will be told what is okay and what is unacceptable the first day of class and the consequences to their …show more content…
Many things in life change from technology, nature, and the society we live in. I want my students to start developing what type of person they really want to be. I want my students to experience my class as not only a math class they have to take, but a class where they will use everything they learned to make them as successful as can be. My student’s role is to become a better person and this is not only for them but also for me. I will make them better students as they will make me a better teacher. My student’s responsibility is to allow me to teach them and not give up on me as I will never give up on them. Like time life is constantly ticking, nothing is ever the same. As future teachers we should envelop everything new and not be so closed minded. After all not only are we trying to teach students problems but also how to solve them. I consider myself a progressivism because I will always strive to become a better teacher. I will envelop anything new that can be productive and help my students become

Therefore I believe that to teach students the curriculum effectively while also sharing the love of math is to provide appropriate notes and examples but as well as including task that involve student exploration, technology, and engaging information. I also think that peers learn a lot from each other, so I will also let students be in charge of teaching topics so that their peers can explain it better then I possibly could. But in order to tech students to connect math to the real world I will incorporate task and activities they do relate to the real life. I can remember specifically projects that involved managing finances and using math specifically in a real world context. Therefore I believe that doing this within the classroom regularly will teach students the importance of learning these topics and what to do with that knowledge in the real world.…

I still have a belief that people can improve their lives and future through hard work, discipline, and education. I know that there is plenty of research to show that upward mobility, the idea that we can change our status in life, is not necessarily true, or at the very least, quite difficult. I understand that seeing my parents achieve this upward mobility helped to shape this belief. As a teacher of high school students, I will present the notion and idea that they can succeed in spite of this research. I hope to inspire students to find a sense of mental toughness to push forward in their own quest, regardless of circumstance.…

I would do so by talking to them with a calm tone and explain why they are sitting down talking with me and explain why what they did was wrong. Another positive thing I might do in my classroom is have behavior charts for them to fill out at the end of the day, and if it's bad behavior to talk to them and their parents about it. Also with the kids that had good behavior is to reward them so they know to keep up the good behavior. I want to build my relationships with my students so they know I care about their needs and to help them succeed. I always want to come into class with a positive behavior because I believe it will help my students be positive as well.…

In the process of teacher education I feel that the classes should consist of more hand on activities such as doing lesson plans and presenting them. If the student was to present the lesson to a group of students it will be better since they will obtain many techniques such as presenting and also modify if there is any concerns the students give them. In a classroom setting teachers should do more activities to get the students involved. In my own schooling experience I do not recall doing a lot of activities in my classroom, due to it I would occasionally find myself being bored. If we have teachers who do fun engaging lesson plans I think will also help improve the test scores.…

Classroom organization is very important to me because it will create a place where students can learn but most importantly, understand responsibility, create relationships with other students, and learn how to work together with classmates. It has to be a place where learning is suitable, comfortable and non-threating. If the students doesn’t have a classroom where it’s organized then it can hinder them from learning. I think having a creative classroom or setting up the room will help my students learn better. For example, if I have a bulletin board on a subject were learning in class like science.…

I have seen that the roles I have chosen will all be able to make me a better teacher if I put my goals into them. Such as knowing that being an assessor is very important; knowing that I should be able to do more assessments with the learners to see where they are not coping; taking the role to help a child in need if there are known problems at his or her house, whether it is financially or with the parents; knowing to help the learner in a respectful, ethical manner; learning new things every day. I must remember that I will never be too old to learn new things in my subject. I will either learn something from my students or even from the people I am working with. I will need to always be more open to learning and improving myself.…

The students should understand the teacher 's way of teaching and have a good relationship with the teacher. How the grading system would work is it would be a lot like a questionaire asking the students about the teacher and what they 're good at and what they can improve on. The questionnaires will be at the end of all tests when the students see it on the test and quizzes they will realize you really wanna know. Teachers can ignore all the immature comments students are saying to try to be funny and you do have the name of who wrote the immature comments because it’s on the back of the test and quizzes so you can address it quickly. The questionnaire would be short and concise it will be designed to identify the positive teachers as well as the poor teachers.…

Vision Statement: Goals for My Future Classroom According to Jensen (1998), “as a teacher, you have more influence over the volition and engagement of your students than you may realize” (p. 2230). With this in mind, I want to ensure that as a future educator, I will become known as a helper, supporter, and teacher who is passionate about her job and her students. I feel these qualities reflect on students the most. I will strive for excellence in the teaching world. My goal for my future classroom is to be the best motivator I can be because without motivation, students’ learning cannot be accessed to its fullest extent.…
