William F. May accurately describes the most prominent points of view that can be misleading about sexuality in “Four Mischievous Theories of Sex.” The points of view that sex is demonic, and the point of view that sex can be casual, were the two polar opposites that resonated the most to me. Several movies, television shows, and lyrics of certain pop songs, do a good job of being proponents of the idea that sex can be causal. It is also easy to imply when there are people attacking this point of view that they may be proposing that sex is evil, demonic, and destructive. This occurs when they fail to communicate that sex is a gift, because if they only attack the theory of sex as casual, and do not mention that sex and sexuality are a good things then it is easier to assume that that person believes that sex may be a bad and destructive force than good, because if they are solely attacking the theory of sex as casual, and do not let the audience know that sex is good then sex can be antagonized if they do not communicate to whoever is listening that sex is good.
