The threat that society feels in the presence of strong women will always bewilder me since we have always had the ability to be just as, if not stronger than men. Fear filled stereotypes still menace muslim communities. America’s societies seem repel members of LGBTQ communities. Securing the communities of minorities will bring vitality to our country. Burke’s role in my activism and want to learn more about different minorities is very large. I went to a mixed elementary school but our teachers were not allowed to teach us about the conflicts between races. At Burke, I have noticed a good balance between positive and negative conversations around race. Sometimes non people of color say ignorant things, but I know that doesn't just happen at Burke. It happens everywhere. The only thing to do to reduce the falsities society spreads is to self reflect. For whites in America, ask yourself questions before you speak. Is this appropriate? Is there a possibility that I’m being racially insensitive? Are my opinions well thought out, or will I sound childish and ignorant? Educate your children about the injustices minorities face everyday. For minorities in America, train your children. Let them know what's actually happening in our world. Don't feed into the stereotypes you are born with and don’t get annoyed and frustrated when an ignorant question or statement is
