The four major methods of apprehension strategies used by law enforcement are the reverse sting, the controlled buy, the undercover buy, and the knock and talk. The reverse sting is where a law enforcer goes undercover as a drug dealer and sells drugs; they usually sell a controlled substance (Levinthal, 2012, pg. 125).
