Mice will be housed in animal house facility of Wilmington College and three will be used in this experiment two as experimental group and one as a control group. Before the creation of the wound all of the mice are going to be given di-edhyl-ether as anesthesia. The mice are going to place in the ether chamber inorder for them to inhale the ether vapor. Once the mice inhale the ether, they are going to be removed from the chamber to start wound creation. The mice dorsal sides are going to be shaved using razor to get clear area for wound creation. The punch biopsy is most often used in diagnostic tests for skin disorders. It is believed that most of the errors that occur during dermatologic diagnosis is because the punch biopsy is not being applied correctly (Zuber 2002). After the creation of the wound, the control mouse is going to put in one of the cages with no farther treatment of the wound. For the experimental group, wound swab is going to be used to apply Terrasil on the wound site. Once the ointment is applied on the experimental mice they are too put back in the cage for farther examination of the wound. The wound healing process is going to be checked ever six hours after creation of the wound in order to obtain precise data and observations. Both group of mice are fed once a day. Table one the treatment plan for the control mouse as well as for the experimental mice. The plan is to clean and apply Terrasil ointment on the experimental mice while wearing gloves and using a swab to apply the ointment. When an injury or infection occurs resulting inflammation, increased amount of WBC are migrated through the bloodstream to the wounded site in order to fight off bacteria that are causing the infection in the wound. If there is a lot of WBC present in the wound site, this indicates the presentence of an infection (Chung 2015). WBC will be analyzed weekly soon after the wound is created. The five major WBC I am looking at in this experiment are: Eosinophils, Basophils, Monocytes, Lymphocyte, and Neutrophils using the light microscope at 40x to see presents of the white blood cells (Vale 2013). Cell counting is important in this experiment because it is going to help determine the number of cells found in the wounded site. Cell count can be done manually or automatically (Chung 2015). As stated above, in this experiment I am going to be using the light microscope and manually counting the WBC. By doing the cell count it is going to let us know how well the treatment is working. This data is going to be displayed in Table 1 and there will also be graph to visually display a potential trend (not shown). In addition to cell counting, every week the percentage of the cell numbers of Eosinophils , Basophils, Monocytes, Lymphocyte, and Neutrophils is going to be collected to get an accurate measurement.
