This ad that was published in 1996 displaying four brains in black and white says a thousand words that are still relevant today about racism and racist people. The ad was released back in 1996 and created by the author Ben Nott for the European Youth Campaign against Racism. This organization was founded in 1994 in Strasbourg, France to promote and publicize examples of good practice in the fight against racism and intolerance. The ad sends the message that racist people in the world have small brains, not literally but in a figurative sense. The ad’s purpose is to promote racial awareness and racial equality. It’s showing that even though we all come from different places and different parts of the world, on the inside we are all the same. Racism has been around for ages and sadly despite all the improvement over the years, racism still exists today. I think the target audience was not just a certain audience, but for everyone that came across it. This ad was published twenty years ago, and still holds the same amount of relevance and importance as it did in 1996 even though racism is not as open and on Front Street as it was back in those days in 1996. This picture ad doesn’t just focus on race problems with just African-Americans but it shows racism amongst African-Americans, Europeans, and Asian.
