Founding Father Of George Washington: Our First American President

George Washington was our first American president, the commander of the Continental Army, and the president of the Constitutional Convention. As president he would go on to set a precedence that would last for future generations and guide our future presidents. His actions, character and demeanor would create customs and traditions that are still being used today. Although President Washington was born to English settlers and had little formal education he would thrive as a surveyor and a military professional. He would eventually be known as the greatest states men of our country.
In regards to expansion, trade and economy, government, religion, culture and society, George Washington’s main theme was independence. American independence through trade, economy and expansion of our religious influence in our government. After a series of defeats in Philadelphia (the capital of the Continental Congress), the Continental Congress was forced into hiding in York, Pennsylvania (home of the York Peppermint Patty).
