Foundations of Psychology
Psychology is the study of the nature of homo sapiens, better known as scientific study and investigation of mental stabilities and activities. Through knowledgeable psychology was established from a powerful history of human beings that endeavored to acquire practical insight into one’s consciousness or demeanor. This type of study teaches what influences the behavior and mindset of men. Psychology has obtained roots in philosophy. This perspective is constructed off Charles Darwin’s theories of scientific clarification and accountability which addresses a human beings mental state of being, thought pattern and process, and their inclinations (Western, 2009). Darwin was the first to propose adaptive traits help human beings adapt and overcome ensuring ones survival despite their environment or circumstances.
The Cognitive Perspective The cognitive perspective emphasis human’s capacity to give accurate accountability in order to comprehend, to process, and recover information. This theory examines an individual intellectual thought process and information perception. This also incorporates organization thus assesses the associate connection of human beings their environment, along with what initiates reactions within environment (Kowalski & Westen, 2009). Based on the theory that psychological problems are caused by maladaptive thinking, cognitive therapy focuses on identifying imperfect thought patterns and changing them to schools of thought along with fundamental theories and assumptions which will be examined within this paper.
