They would not allow her to go to educational events, family events or sport activities. Her parents would tape her phone calls and she was not allowed to spend time at her friend’s house.
Shelly reported that in disciplining her own children she uses times out and redirection because she does not want to take away learning experiences. Kenneth reported that he uses talking and redirection as his form of disciplined because of the relationship he had with his father and he believes he learned how to be an adult.
