Throughout the years more and more youth are being separated from their families and are being sent to foster homes. As more children and youth enter foster homes they are also staying longer periods of time, meaning that something is not working as efficiently as it should be in the foster care system. These children and youth are being sent to foster homes because the types of relationships that they encounter at home with their families are no longer healthy relationships. Some families such as Mexican immigrant families undergo an extensive amount of stress, which eventually leads to their involvement with the child welfare system. These causes therefore lead to traumatizing experiences because they are not solely removed from their parents but also separated from their siblings. These conditions previously mentioned will eventually place these youth on the processes to emancipation if they age out of the foster care system. When this happens it’s determined by a social worker that the environment that they are going to reside in is no longer safe for them to live in. In addition, many of these children and youth will have the opportunity to reunite with their families while others won’t be as fortunate and will eventually age out of the foster care system. After being involved with the foster care system for a certain amount of time the children and youth become deprived of learning certain skills in order to be successfully independent in life. The sample that is being evaluated is a random sample. By selecting the population of my interest in this case that is foster children and youth, I will be able to demonstrate the main conditions as to why children and youth are being sent to foster care. The stories that are being told will have an age category and I have categorized children by those of ages 0-14 years of age and youth as those of ages 15-24 years of age. The data collection examines ten stories publish by the children and youth that have had to endure all these experience before they were removed from their home and placed in a foster homes. These stories are personal and very detailed stories of the terrifying conditions that these children and youth tolerated for years before having the courage to speak up and receive the adequate care needed to live in a health
