Texans are known for being some of the loudest and proudest people around. They boast about having the most talented high school football teams, the tastiest barbeque, and the finest country music. However, because there are numerous great qualities about Texas, it makes it easy for the not so great qualities to just fly under the radar. One of those not so great qualities is the brokenness of the Texas foster care system. In 2016, over 200 children in Texas were killed by child abuse, leaving Texas as the state with the highest child fatalities.…

Children have little to no control of their environment, especially in the decision making on behalf of them. Everyone may be agree with me based on this case study. Placed those three children (Lucy 6, Robert 3 and the 20 months old Joey) in foster care was not their decision per se neither their parent agreement. That will be my focus on this paper and the systems perspective theory will help me to analyze this case study perfectly.…

For direct action on Wayne State’s campus, the Honors Students can help by volunteering at LGBTQ friendly adoption agencies. The Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) would not be able to help, because the actions would not take place on Wayne State’s campus. Also, the plan would not advocate for student protections on campus, but rather would encourage adoption agencies to become LGBTQ friendly as to receive support from the community. In contrast, SDS’s goal is to create safe spaces on campus.…
The Need for Proper Resources for Post-Placement Youths All over the world, individuals and families are faced with the harsh and often sad reality that not all parents are able to care for their children. Although this reality is hard to face, the foster care system is in place to provide help and support during this time. Foster care helps children in situations where they cannot be cared for by their biological parents. Numerous reasons can lead to a child being placed in the system; however, no matter the reason, each situation displays the need for an alternative care system.…
AAP was designed to address several issues. The first issue was the growing number of children placed in foster care systems. In California, the number of children in foster care increased due to the courts removal of children that were neglected or abused by their birth parents. Foster care children account for 97% of children placed in AAP. The second issue surrounds family stability.…
Foster Care a Trapped Door Is foster care a safety net or a trapped door? Children come into foster care needing a safe place. They need to be able to either find a adopted home, be reunified with their parents or parent, or live in a stable home with a family member. Instead, children come into the foster care system in which they move from foster home to foster home, without loving parents or a permanent family. While in foster care, if they have not been adopted by the age of 9, they will most likely be in foster care until they reach age 18 and “age out” of the system.…

Youth in Foster Care and Transition to Adulthood Many youth are dependent on their families, receiving financial and emotional support. A youth experiencing foster care does not have the same support network making transition into adulthood challenging. Adolescents in foster care require more intensive monitoring of their health care needs in all aspects. The foster care system in the United States strives to provide care and protect both children and adolescents from their biological family primarily for reasons of neglect, abuse, and safety concerns.…
Should the foster care system be reformed The American Foster System has aided and helped many children who needed it. Foster Care isn’t only a place for children to get out of a bad home life or situation. It is supposed to help them and protect them from all the hurt and pain they experienced. Sometimes, it helps the biological parents get their lives together so that they can properly raise their children.…
The Broken System Suffering and being neglected on a daily basis is not something someone has to ever encounter. The foster care system is failing because of all of the flaws that exist which results in the harm of bringing down innocent children. The state of Florida has been the first state to ever make all foster care privatized. While the foster care system in Florida is able to get many children adopted, many several of them also suffer from permanent health issues because of the broken system. the system is broken.…
