It’s been a day or two since we’ve left this room. I’m lost and enraptured by the fragility surrounding our isolation. I spend much of my time counting things. I count the slats on your window blinds, I count the clothes scattered on your bedroom floor, I count the scars on your body. I count every different language and color I could learn to love you in.…

He was immersed by its serenity; there were no words to describe it. Let me start at the beginning. As I alluded to earlier, I’ve come to understand part of the reason we stayed together for so long was due to my intense need for validation, to love myself through investing in and loving external sources. For the majority of my life, I was told to find identity and peace through God. I’m certain I told you how much I struggled with this.
