In the beginning, when Forrest was telling his lives story to the nice young black lady at the bus station. He telling the young lady that his mother named him after Nathan Bedford Forrest. Who was a lieutenant general in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. Nathan Bedford Forrest was also an early member of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). Forrest Gump also told us watchers about Nathan Bedford Forrest’s involvement with KKK. The KKK was extremely violent against any African American leader.
