Some are very interested in his stories, while there are some who are not interested at all. Forrest was in his adulthood in the 1970-1980’s which was when the Vietnam War was going on. In the movie it even showed how segregation was still going on. With the war, brought lots of protesters who thought the war was wrong and should be brought to an end. In the movie it shows how protesters were peaceful. This shows the social context of how war can divide people. Some hated that the war was going on for so long and wanted peace. Others did not mind the war. While a group was holding a protest in Washington D.C., they had Forrest speak. He was there after receiving the Medal of Honor and he spoke to the huge crowd but the microphones were not working during his speech so we do not know what was said. People being divided on the Vietnam War also fall into this category. Political issues often cause people to become divided onto what are usually two different sides with a solid line in the middle, but there are also times that the line can become blurred. Forrest has always loved Jenny even though she would always randomly leave and break his heart. Forrest never was interested in any other women besides Jenny, even when women would throw themselves at him, while Jenny was with numerous men. When they did reunite, Forrest would act like Jenny never hurt him and would show that he cared. This whole love concept is constant in society. People get together in hopes of getting married and possibly starting a family but there is possibly some heart break on the way and it will not be an easy road for every couple. While Jenny and Forrest end up together in the end, not every couple that is meant to be will wind up together in the end due to numerous reasons. This movie focuses on Forrest Gump’s life but it does involve historical events in it. There is a scene where there is a large group of people in front of the college and the Governor is talking about how African-Americans should be able to attend the same schools as whites and there were people who disagreed with that.
