Even though the film is two decades old, the quality and the camera works of it is something comparable to today’s film industry. In fact, it was awarded for “best picture” for the 67th Academic Awards hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The cinematography of the film was very well programmed. A great example of this is at the beginning of the movie when Forrest first appeared on screen; the cinematographers used of the technique of zoom shot to shoot from high above and lowering down to eye-level with wide angle lens. This allowed the audience to have a full view of the setting. The reason for that is because this setting was the most important setting of the film, it was where Forrest told his story. When Forrest started talking, the shot was then being focused closer to his face; this allows the audience to see his facial expressions as he told his story and to …show more content…
A very advanced technology was used in the making of the film called the CGI(Computer-generated imagery). This computer program created the special visual effect of Forrest Gump meeting with many important figures even though he did not. In other word, this program allows the filmmakers to virtually transfer a person or an object from an existing scene to another. Another way this program was used in the film was when one of the main characters, Lieutenant Dan Taylor; played by Gary Sinise, an American actor, musician and director. In the film, Lieutenant Dan Taylor lost his two legs during the Vietnam war. However, in real life Gary Sinise is not physically disabled in anyways. More importantly, the film editors was able to make an illusion that Lieutenant Dan Taylor has lost his legs. They used computer programs to virtually remove them and they also used a special wheelchair while shooting the film. The editing was so flawless, which made the film seem even more
