Forney: The Key Values Of My Culture

The community I have dedicated this project to is the community of Forney, because I have been in here since the second semester of 6th grade. This community has had many impacts on my life, either good or bad they were all learning experiences for my future. I mainly see this community as good, and I cannot judge it off of some bad experiences because, that would not be fair. I have come to learn Forney’s culture and what it can teach you if you watch and listen. To start with, the key values of my culture. Respect, Equality/equal opportunities, Focus, Achievements/work, Freedom, Independence, Acceptance and finally, safety. Forney had been hit by a few tornados one year, and it was very devastating to the whole community. I know from experience that it was extremely terrifying to the kids, one of them had hit my elementary school and the neighborhood surrounding it. A lot of my friends at the time lived there, but because I was young I didn’t know what all had just happened after they passed over Forney. Anyway, the power at my house had went out so we had to go somewhere to eat dinner that night and the fast food places in Forney were closed for obvious reasons so we had to drive towards Terrell, at that time we were driving past that neighborhood and all I saw was half houses and at that moment all I could think about was “are my friends okay??”, “was anyone hurt”, I was so worried and scared like, I’m sure everyone else was at the same time. But the next few days I had never seen so many people together and helping like they were after something like that. And I am glad now that I could grow up and learn the values of this community/culture because later on in life theses values I will teach to my kids and hopefully they can get to experience a culture like the one I grew into and live in a community as loving and caring as this
