Combine artistic talent with research on product use, marketing, and materials to create the most functional and appealing product design. Direct and coordinate the fabrication of models or samples and the drafting of working drawings and specification sheets from sketches.

Create original designs or adapt fashion trends to design clothing and accessories. Draw rough and detailed drawings of apparel or accessories. Identify target markets for designs. Select materials and production techniques to be used. Attend fashion shows and review garment magazines and manuals for information on fashion trends and consumer preferences.
