This is an important process for professional development as it allows you to receive feedback from others in regards to your practice. For example a staff member may feel they have no flaws in their practice, but after having a supervision could be made aware of areas that they need to improve on.
Personally I feel that both the above support systems are as effective as each other because together they cover such a wide aspect of a job role.
