In John Green’s Looking for Alaska mistakes are made that cause spiraling corollaries. One quote from the book reads, “If only we could see the endless string of consequences that result from our smallest actions. But we can't know better until knowing better is useless” (Green, 218). This quote stands out because when you think of the novel as a whole everything was caused by a previous event. The narrator is acknowledging the fact that no one knows what will happen before it happens. However, after we wish we could go back and stop ourselves from doing whatever started it.
The author’s words are important because they apply to everyone’s lives. They are essential to the plot of the story because it comes up as
