The impression of memories, dreams and voice is important in this short story because they are all tied together. Within the three stories the idea of the reservation remains the same as well as the fact the community of Indians feels they do not belong to the society, which they are in. The idea of memories, dreams and voice are factored in both short stories and the film. We see throughout the story and film when Thomas is telling the stories as well as when we see the flashbacks in the movie. Victor shows the memories of his childhood with his father growing up and in the reservation and shows the abuse Victor received growing up. Suzy shows the present action when Victor moved out of the reservation, she encourages Victor to swallow his pride and go inside the recreational vehicle to pick up his fathers things, such as the photo from the wallet and a knife in which he cuts his hair with. Thomas shares memories and dreams with the audience by revealing them as stories to the other characters. Thomas is the voice of the story mainly because he has faith in Victor to change his views about his father. Victor ends up realizing Thomas knew his father better than Victor did, which makes the reader wonder if it was Victor that lost his dad and not Thomas. Thomas narrates the beginning of the movie my saying he could fly because he was thrown out the window. Victor’s dad was to drunk and set Thomas’ house on fire by a firecracker, this incident causes Thomas to live his grandmother and allows Victor’s dad to care for Thomas as well. In the story The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven the idea of society comes into play when the reader sees the cashier of 7-11 look at the narrator suspiciously. The narrator feels out of place when the cashier constantly tries to make conversation with him, but the narrator realized this and asked the cashier if he wanted anything else. The narrator tries to make small talk by saying he wanted a green slushie, to make the cashier laugh. The narrator and the cashier both have a connection when they get to know each
