The meaning of life is so many different feelings to many people. The purpose of life is to find what you are looking for. Morrie taught us so many lessons about his purpose regarding love. He taught us about work, community, family, forgiveness, and death. This is exactly why his work is so essential. He doesn’t want any of us to live a meaningless life. I believe that the best way to learn the meaning of life is to follow our heart. Morrie had so much knowledge and taught so many lessons regarding being yourself and accepting who you are. Recognize what is important in life and realize that family is truly the one constant element that can teach you this lesson. Forgiveness is such a difficult concept. And take responsibility for each other. If we only learned these lessons this world would be so much better a place. (p.163) Kindness can be a difficult gift to give at times; however every time I was shown kindness, no matter how minor, I felt immensely grateful. Kindness is a great gift to receive and to give others. We all have a choice to be kind, and we offer that choice many times a day. Sometimes though, it is hard to help someone. Not everyone is kind and this makes it hard to offer yourself to help if people act like they don’t appreciate it. I can image Morrie would reply with these words, Do it anyway! Look out for others. Even the smallest of gifts can make the world a better place. Morrie taught us that kindness and compassion go together. Morrie is very concerned with how little people in the society actually care about others and he thinks it's the root of many problems. If I could talk to him, I would have to ask him what he thinks of our society this very day. I would ask his guidance in what we could do to help with the issues of diversity and America always been different than other places. I would tell him of all the changes our country is making. I would gladly seek his words to help me understand the thoughts of our Leaders. Then I hear him whisper “Be compassionate.” I love his favorite quote by Auden, being compassionate makes us …show more content…
One of my favorite series of quotes from Morrie is, “Have you found someone to share your heart with?”; “Are you giving to your community?”; “Are you at peace with yourself?”; “Are you trying to be as human as you can be?” (p.34) I trust if we all could ask ourselves those same questions, we could all live like Morrie did in a humble, peaceful, devoted fashion. Life is a precious gift, which we must learn to cherish. We must honor life with love and goodness. I think one of the most important lessons that Morrie taught was to have a purpose in life. Leave a path that others can follow. Morrie was a man whose desire for the human essence has continued to live long after his last

Waking up each morning, no one can resist wondering why they were put here, what they were destined to do. Everyone lives everyday searching for their reason, their meaning in life. While most claim to find their life’s meaning through gratifying work or service, all hope that defining life is as simple as a glance into a dictionary. In “A Good Man is Hard to Find”, The Sun Also Rises, and “Bartleby, the Scrivener”, these authors develop their protagonist or antagonist to display the universal theme of finding meaning in life.…

Next to love, forgiveness is the most misunderstood concept. Forgiveness has been twisted by a lack of awareness as to how it functions. To forgive does not mean we must rejoin with our ex-lovers, free criminals from prisons, return to old jobs or anything else absurd. We are taught to believe that if we are to forgive the one who hurt us, it must manifest in some form of behavior. Forgiveness is often seen as weakness.…

It is important to forgive because if you don’t it will mentally and fiscally hurt you. What I mean by mentally hurt you I mean that it will stay in your conscience and won’t get out until you let it out so you would need to forgive them so it won’t hurt you. Then what I mean by fiscally hurting you I mean that is not going to want to be your friend because you can’t let go of a grudge and will talk about even more than you actually want.…
