When one first walks into the doors of The Forest Lake Club they are presented with a welcoming, elegant, and calming atmosphere. This is complemented by a lot of windows and light colors making their rooms feel open. The windows outlook a spectacular view, allowing their members to feel as if they were outside. Similar, they pay attention to the minute details throughout their club. For example, they take the time to print their logo onto their napkins. However, is it very competitive to become a member. One is placed on a five year waiting list, has to be recommended by four existing members, and be accepted by the board of directors. Moreover, this club does not devote a lot of time on attracting new members. One characteristic that surprised me was that their golf professional was considered as an independent contractor. This means that the club is not accountable for anything that does not sell within their shop. It is left to the responsibility of the golf professional. Another trait that stood out to me was the new renovation they are doing. The Forest Lake Club was developed around the 50’s. Meaning, that the club has a lot of outdated amentias. When we approached the pro shop, I was interested in knowing whether or not the club allows non-members to play in their tournaments. The banquet manager, Ashley McCall; explained that they do not directly accept non-members to participate in the tournaments. However, if the non-members are associated with any other organizations like the PGA they are able to play in the tournaments. This club host many different tournaments for both golf and tennis.
