Foreshadowing In Prom

Even more incredible was the fact that some of my classmates, completely perplexed and slightly mortified, asked me how it felt to be “dateless this late in the game”. I merely shrugged and told them that I will be alright with or without a date— I would only be dateless for a night, right? That evening, I was texting a schoolmate of mine, Tyler. At the time, Tyler and I had became friends with each other, so our conversations usually resorted to generic high school trending topics: academics, athletes, and rather coincidentally, prom. …show more content…
Even worse, all of his girl friends already found dates and the tide of Anxiety Ocean was pulling him in. Now in the literary world, literature enthusiasts book worms call this “foreshadowing”, personally, I call it the power of empathy. Nonetheless, I felt how genuinely upset Tyler was-- it seemed like Life incessantly dealt Tyler lousy card after lousy card, yet I knew I could help him turn his awful hand into a Royal Flush. Little did he know, I was in the process of devising a plan. I planned to ask him to prom, when he least expected it of course! I knew my project was going to take some time and some innovation, nonetheless a few days later, I asked him to prom at track practice. Being the pun’ny genius I am, I was able to have my friend hold up a sign that read, "I have to ask you dis'cus it's really important”. Consequently, I flashed a discus signed

Throughout “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury, specific literary techniques are used to demonstrate that human nature can easily become violent and vulgar. Bradbury presents the idea that humans can quickly become vicious through amplification. When George sits at the table waiting for his house to serve dinner, Bradbury uses amplification in his thoughts and George thinks, “They were awfully young, Wendy and Peter, for death thoughts. Or, no, you were never too young, really” (4). After considering the idea that Wendy and Peter might be too young to understand or wish for death, he thinks over this again and comes to a contradictory realization that they likely do understand it.…

Another quote is on page 88 and 89 in days point of view “when I pull away frame it and look closer at the metal, I notice symbols carved on its surface. This passage showed me a lot about George’s character, and it is also another example of foreshadowing in the story. George tends to not show a lot of fear throughout the book. He tends to come off as protective over Lennie, strong, and confident. This break in George’s character immediately caught my attention, because I felt like if George, this strong, protective character, was scared then there was an important reason to be. This passage is also another example of foreshadowing.…
