Now my position with Best Buy that really helped me practice all these traits daily was my position as a Back Office Leader. In this role I was auditing all cash and credit transactions to track and report variances with cashiers. In my position I was given a lot of power to make decisions for the business and I was the sole person auditing all cash variances so there was a lot of trust emplaced within me. My role helped me practice Integrity, Justice, and Prudence daily and these are the traits that will allow me to be a great forensics accountant. Justice can be defined as a theory by which we attempt to preserve each person’s rights equally. Each person’s view of justice can be different but in a moral sense, it is the theory that wrongs acts must be corrected in order to preserve everyone’s rights and liberties. A forensics accountant’s duty is to research and bring forward an analysis based on data to court to then be used to set the facts in the alleged crime. In order for a forensics accountant to be able to provide a testimony in court there needs to be strong sense of justice. You will find in a great accountant the urgency around justice and see that not only in their careers do they attempt to carry out justice but in their daily lives as well. These accountants are people that on a daily basis call out injustices in society and practice a just life as well. Having a forensics accountant without a sense of justice is like having a nurse without a sense of compassion; it simply results in someone doing the job without the motivation to do it for its sole
