Forensic Nurse Mission Statement Analysis

My first professional organization is the Academy Medical-Surgical Nurses or ASMN. The mission statement states “to promote excellence in medical-surgical nursing.” The vision statement is that “medical-surgical nurses use their powerful voice and focused action to continuously improve patient care.” Membership can be obtained by anyone who is fascinated about medical-surgical nursing. Memberships are due yearly and are separated into three categories: full members (RNs) which range from $75 to $101 dollars depending on whether the license is from the United States or if the RN is over the age of 60 years old. The mission statement is “to provide leadership in forensic nursing practice by developing, promoting, and disseminating information internationally about forensic nursing.” The vision statement is that “forensic nurses will be universally recognized as the essential component of healthcare’s response to violence and trauma.” Membership criteria is to be a registered nurse (RN or similar). Dues are yearly and divided into three categories regular, associate, and student. Regular category for one year is $129, for three years it is $339, and for five years it is $550. This organization promotes nursing and healthcare to establish forensic nursing as a reliable go to nurse for all things related to violence and trauma. Whether it be a sexual assault exam or resources to therapy. This organization also allows for networking and camaraderie between the members.
