After spending more time in her position, Kileen would learn that Foremost Insurance did offer advancement opportunities. She decided to put aside her current job search and focus on building a career with Foremost Insurance. The organization offered a program called Around the World which allowed employees to observe fellow coworkers and learn more about their departments and positions. She would participate in this program and learn more about the other prospective positions available in the Foremost organization. She would learn more about positions held in other departments and how other departments operated in the organization. Kileen would take it upon herself to look for opportunities and learn more about the different departments in the organization.
In order to grow in current position, Kileen decided the best way to demonstrate that she mastered her current position would be mentoring her coworker she was outperforming. Kileen needs to utilize a strong network to promote herself in her organization. The purpose of network would be connecting to people in and outside her own department. The interaction with other department will provide her new opportunity to exchange information and develop contact to further her career. Jon Levy’s states, “It’s adding diversity to your network that truly helps it. The reason is, every time you add an additional person that’s in your industry, you’re not expanding your network very much because you all probably know the same people,” (Feloni, 2015). Networking is great resource to expand your network and meet new people.
