Looking over the directions on how to complete the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment it sounded like another psychological analysis into our minds to track the way we think (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). It reminded me of a test given by major companies to a candidate for an available position to see what made you tick or find out if you would steal from them or go postal on the whole company. But to my surprise I actually learned something about myself, things that came natural to me to the point of not really paying any attention to them. According to this assessment my top strength is Strategic which does make sense to me when I started to review the results printed out on my report.…

Although we experience many emotions, such as fear, anger, joy, sadness, etc., throughout the day, have you ever wondered why we feel these emotions? Were we just born with the instinctual ability to feel these emotions, or did we learn to feel certain emotions towards certain things or situations? An example of this is when the author says, “Greg had noticed that the door, once boarded over, had been slightly ajar . . . He reached the house just as another flash of lightning changed the night to day for an instant, then returned the graffiti-scarred building to the grim shadows.”…

John Steinbeck uses tone and symbolism to create a complex mood in Chapter 6 of the book Of Mice And Men. In the beginning of the page, Steinbeck used tone to create a peaceful and tranquil mood when he described the beautiful setting of the story. “Already the sun had left the valley to go to climbing up the slopes of the Gabilan mountains, and the hilltops were rosy in the sun.” The rosy hilltops glimmering in the sunlight created a symbolic meaning to show the calmness of the setting and he tried to make the reader feel like the environment is almost to good to be true.
