Ford’s goals were primarily economic. Gerald Ford wanted to curb inflation because costs for goods were getting out of hand.In addition he vetoed 39 non-military bills just to focus on the economy. Once Gerald Ford had finished working on inflation, he then focused on the recession that was occurring in the economy. He also helped businesses in America by trying to reduce taxes.
Gerald Ford’s presidency was very trying and unexpected. For one, he had to battle inflation. Then after he was done battling inflation he had to revive the economy because it was recceeding and part of the reason why was due to inflation. During this time period chronic energy shortages were a big problem in the United States and Gerald Ford had to ensure that these …show more content…
He was actually so good at playing football that the NFl was looking to recruit him. Gerald Ford had jobs all over the place: he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, the chairman of the Republican National Convention, House minority leader, and he also served in the United States navy during World War 2 where he eventually became a Lieutenant Commander. Along with all of his successful jobs he also studied law at the university of Yale and graduated as one of the top 3 in his class. Not only was he successful with his studying, but with his career at his uncle’s law firm.
Gerald Ford’s presidency was a huge surprise.One of the primary reasons why Gerald Ford’s presidency was a surprise was because he kept climbing the ranks of the offices without even being elected to the official positions. Due to the watergate scandal, Richard Nixon, became the first United States president to resign from office otherwise he would have been removed from office through impeachment. On September 5th, 1975 Gerald Ford was first attacked in California. Lynette Fromme used a colt .45, but the gun misfired leading to Gerald’s life being spared and Lynette being arrested. The second attempt to assassinate Ford was made by Sara Jane Moore on September 22nd, 1975. Sara’s used a .38 revolver, but this time the gun didn’t misfire and she missed killing Gerald by only a few feet. Due to these events both women were punished with life in prison, and Gerald Ford had no other assassination attempts to kill him and take him out of
