According to Lewin, who developed the Force Field Analysis, “organizations and individuals operate within a psychological and social environment. The “life space” of this environment is called a “field” and its relationship with various “forces” can halt or encourage change” (as cited by Hustedde & Score, 1995, p. 2). In this section, a Force Field Analysis is conducted regarding the leadership initiative, by identifying any “driving forces” or reasons that can push us towards our goal and any type of “barrier” that may hinder or restrict progress towards meeting our initiative. It will be helpful to identify any barriers in advance, so that our team has a full understanding of what we are up against while working towards our leadership initiative. Goals were set as well as a guidance for what we would like to accomplish through our leadership initiative. The overall goals include allowing staff members to feel more comfortable and confident with the new evaluation system by understanding the exact role the 25% student growth plays in the summative evaluation rating. When an educator’s job is on the line due to not only their own performance but student performance, individuals would be more willing to do whatever it takes to increase job security or improve any below level ratings. In addition, this is only the second year in which student growth counts towards our overall summative evaluation. This means this is relatively new, and teachers are still working on their growth goals, working in our favor. Lastly, administration would like to see teachers excel in their evaluations and student growth and also help support teachers who may be struggling with the entire
