I feel as if For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls tells what the characters could not in The Glass Menagerie. Durang showed the true story in my opinion. I love parodies of things they are always funny, but I have never enjoyed a parody more than the actual story (or most of the time song) before. It is a valid parody to me, it is funny and does a great job of making fun of the story and making a mockery of it. Durang takes the small things from Williams’ story that you can read in between the lines and blows them up and makes them huge ordeals that also have some humor to them. I enjoy how they took the subtle dislike of Laura and made it well known. I also enjoyed the hard hearing that Ginny has because it gives Amanda the chance to make fun of her in a funny way. I enjoy sarcasm and Amanda had a lot of it to give in this story. Amanda asked “ I sure am hungry. Any chance I might be able to take a sandwich with me?” then Amanda replies “Certainly you can shake hands with me, if that will make you happy” (Durang 419). I enjoy the sarcastic attitude Amanda has, but I do not like how it seems that she outright doesn't care about Lawrence. It seemed like to me that Amanda cared about Laura at least a little bit, because she didn't want there to be a drunk who would leave her. Amanda did however want Laura out of the house just like she did Lawrence she was just more honest with
