Introduction Paragraph:
Lily Owens thought love would never find her after she accidently killed her mother, Deborah. After Deborah died, her father, T-Ray, looked to Lily to express his anger and hatred on the situation. Throughout the abuse, Lily looked to her housemaid, Rosaleen, for a mother-figure she knew didn't have. As Lily grew, she found an interest in discovering her mother’s past and why her mother was absent before she died. Lily left her hometown and encountered a family of sisters who welcomed love back into Lily’s life. With the help from August and her sisters Lily began to understand how to forgive and love those that hurt her like her Father. Lily began to understand and experience the truth that love

August had treated Lily like a daughter loving her, caring for her, and giving her only the best that August herself could give. Lily wanted to please August and keep everything about her life with T-Ray a secret. Lily confessed everything about her life and Deborah and August confessed everything she knew about Deborah including how Lily’s “mother had left [her]” (Kidd 261). Lily looked to August for comfort and when she expressed her anger towards August “something about that punched a hole in [her]” (Kidd 263). When he knew that Deborah didn't love him anymore he tried everything to change her mind but he was to late. T-Ray abused Lily profusely because of the hatred that was wound up tight within him and Lily could no longer take it. Throughout her time with August and her sisters, Lily had come to know forgiveness and welcomed it. Although it was hard for Lily to accept what her father had done to her she forgave him. After learning how her mother had left her to stay with August Lily had become angry and upset and could never forgive her.
