Throughout the book “For Love of Country”, by Schultz and Chandrasekaran there were many sacrifices, hardships, and much bravery shown. The bravery shown overseas was in a dangerous part of the world known as Iraq and Afghanistan. It was there that many men showed much bravery without thinking anything of it or wanting anything out of it. The men that served acted as if it was just another day at work, not thinking that this could be their last day to live. They tried to express that the troops that are in these places do not see themselves as we see them. They see themselves as just going to another day of work, but the way we look at these men are as heroes and many times giving the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom. Another way this chapter grabs your attention is how Schultz and Chandrasekaran use quotes and text to help create a mental picture of the action that is going on. The chapter is written so that the person who is reading has the mental image and will feel emotional connection towards White and the other troops. The image that has been painted by the authors has provided the way that we see Soldier White and the troops with him, but also helps us realize the mental anguish that a solder has to
