One of the cost saving features Foothill has invested in, is solar panels on the roof of their maintenance building. Above you can see the plan view and on the right the perspective from the ground. According to Mr.Lim, solar energy accounts for 20% of the energy used at the facility.

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) endorsed Foothill Transit for reaching the Platinum Level, not only is this the highest recognition possible in the APTA Sustainability Commitment Program; they are the first. Foothill Transit was able to cut almost 30% of water consumption in part by using recycled water for washing buses. In addition, Foothill Transit is currently operating one of the largest electric fleets in the United States. They have embraced sustainability in all aspects of their business, committed to be 100% electric bus fleet by the year 2030. In fact, Foothill is in the planning stage of debuting two double-decker all-electric buses soon. The electric buses will operate on the Silver Streak to maximize capacity on one of the most popular routes.

In summary, Foothill Transit is a clean facility investing in an environmentally friendly bus service throughout Southern California. Based on their commitment to become an all electric fleet by the year 2030, the only thing left is for Foothill

Prudent thought should be given at solar energy panels to offset potential savings. (Foothill Transit has shown of up to 20% savings at their facility.) In addition, electric buses could be a consideration if OCTA is looking to be a sustainable program investing in an environmental friendly bus service in the Orange County Area. However, it should be noted that an all electric fleet is a vastly more costly program insomuch as an all electric bus can cost in excess of $750,000 each. On the other hand, no fuel costs to worry about

In my view, with the data that will be produced, Rex Hill will need to consider this project seriously if they aim enormous profit. The report mainly concentrated on obtaining information from existing reports and visiting such areas as the Oregon region. Since the sunshine in Oregon is sufficient, most of the companies have adopted the solar energy project to undertake their activities.…

Development of electricity fuel busses or trains can also diminish emission levels greatly. An alternative to this might be brining back the “Cash for Clunkers” program. This section looks into the maximum potential of solar PV and battery storage in Singapore based on several technical case studies. Given the small land area of Singapore, one of the most important considerations for the deployment of solar PV is the availability of space for panel installations. Indeed, land constraint and the resulting high land prices have often been cited as major impediment factors. As shown in Figure X, Singapore’s average per square meter land prices ranks as the second highest in Asia. The assessment for land space within this section, therefore, excludes ground-mounted and centralized plants on the basis that it is simply unrealistic and impractical for facility owners to be able to bear the exorbitant land leasing…

Consumers that have short travel distances to an airport or work may very well benefit from an electric car. Considering the monthly sales are steadily increasing for electric cars it shows that consumers are more aware of the environmental and political impact fuel driven cars have in the United States. Automobile manufacturers are starting to see the potential growth in this area and are providing more funding to research and development of better electric car options ultimately providing consumers with less limitations making electric cars more desirable (Tanner, Jr. & Raymond, 2012). As fuel prices are currently low in the United States it is not so much a challenge to produce an electric car in order to meet consumer needs as it is to sell it at a price point that makes it worth buying over a standard fuel…

Solar panels, biofuels, and other sustainable technologies are still new and developing in many areas and individual implementation of infrastructure and maintenance can be extremely cost prohibitive. The role of government in this scenario is to redistribute funds and resources to both individuals and industries to make sustainability economically accessible. The best way to do this is through government subsidies and grants that fund companies and researchers dedicated to implementing and improving sustainable technology. This investment in the future will spur the private sector to invest in sustainability as well as provide money to hone the science behind sustainable industries. As corporate infrastructure develops alongside technology, the price of being sustainable will drop as a result of increased competition.…
