Studies have shown, while both sports may cause injuries rugby is known to have much less severe injuries than football. Rugby players suffer more cuts and bruises but football players get concussions, broken bones, torn ligaments and heat-related injuries. Football is played at much higher speeds than rugby is. Injuries are always a big part in the decision of picking sports to play, parents want their kids to be safe and away from as much harm as possible. Also rugby matches are much less time consuming and much easier on the player 's body. Football games can 't last as long as 90 minutes, whereas a rugby match is 40 minutes and hasn 't played nearly as viciously as football is.
