Our society tells us to be liberal. To accept and push for equality for everyone. We all want people to feel accepted in our culture and if not, we feel bad. However, if it does not affect us or is not shown right in front of our faces, we often do nothing about the inequalities. One example is the topic of the use of the term “Redskins” as a football team. Before the video was shown to us, for the people who have heard of the team probably have not thought that the football team name was offensive to Native Americans. Why would they? It is just a football team name. It did not affect them and it does not mean much to them. I did not.
