Prior to joining the Eagles, he was Head Coach for the Oregon Ducks where he was co-architect of one of the most explosive offensive units in the NCAA. If he feels Morris has the kind of skills he could utilized and improve, a person would be a fool to doubt his decision.
All of this begs the question, "How will Morris fit in with the Philadelphia Eagles?" In the short-term, Morris is going to be busy learning a complicated offensive scheme employed by Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur. The coaches intend to work with the young QB on his footwork and ball release techniques in order to improve his accuracy and touch. If the coaches can get him where he needs to be, the Eagles will have an insurance policy they can really count on.
In the long-term, Morris could earn a shot at the 2nd-string position if everything comes together as planned. While Sanchez has proven to be a reliable veteran, he has never shown the talent to lead an NFL football team on a regular basis. Given his athletic ability, Morris brings a more comprehensive package to the table as both a back up and a prospective starter in case of injury.
