You see this occurrence each and every game, mainly in high school football. Players are limping to the sideline, being helped off the field by others, or even put on a stretcher and sent to the hospital. No, not a shooting or fight. It’s the game of football. Your life is on the line. The most favored sport in the United States of America is too dangerous for players. Football has been proven to be dangerous, even with the new and improved upgrades. The orthopedic surgeon from San Diego, Dr. Behr explains, “Regardless of how safe we make it, it’s still a dangerous sport. One of the hardest things for a team is to get through the season without people getting injured.” The major situation is players are focused mainly on hitting another as hard as possible and not thinking about the afterall effect. Vast amount of things are different about football players: they get hurt running in practice, hitting the ground, or even getting tackled by one another during practice. It’s just a weird sport, you get hurt by getting smashed by another person or just making a cut and slipping, causing you to tear a ligament. Therefore, football can be worked to try and become more safe, but may never be. …show more content…
It has been a thought for future references to change from tackle to two-hand touch football. Football may be dangerous and all, but it requires strength and conditioning which is incredibly good for your body. “You do a lot of different types of training when you participate in football from sprints to distance to interval training and weightlifting,” says orthopedic surgeon Dr. Behr. “So it’s really a good overall health benefit to someone in any age group.” Dr. Behr states this because football is a fairly nice way to stay active and keep your body in shape.
