I want to learn more about football helmets and its history. So I took my time and looked things up. I play football and when I get hit I feel safe knowing that this helmets are meant for this sport. Will keep playing this sport until I’m done with high school. Doing some research I saw that they played with just some leather helmets and they were big guys. I was thinking to myself and saying they can get paralyzed by a big hits right to the head.
Before i did this research i already knew some things about helmets. I already knew that helmets were only leather with a little bit of cushion but people still got a lot of head injuries . Also i knew after some years they made them in plastic after this head injuries went down. Now people were …show more content…
I found some cool things i didn’t know and i was amazed. But some of my deeper questions were like i wanted to know who thought of the idea to make a helmet. Also the guy who made the football helmet was he ever a football player if he was did he get hurt when playing the sport.
When i was researching i ran into some problems. Every time i would go into a website and try to look for new info i couldn’t real find some because they all said the same things.clicking into new websites and looking was hard but if you look closely you can find small detail that other websites don't have .
I went to this website called extreme team sports they had some cool things i didn’t know like in 1930 they made the made the shell stronger for more impacted. I also went to Smithsonianmag.com and found out that when they made plastic helmets they were actually band because they broke and they made a big mess on the field so nfl took them out so they creators could work on them. I also found out a lot of more info in this website called livestrong.com they said that when plastic helmets were out people were getting a lot of face injuries like bloody lips and black eyes also broken noses. So in 1950 they decide to put a metal bar across the face so people would stop getting
