The Importance Of Football In My Life

There is no better feeling than Friday nights on a football field under the lights. There is something so prideful about being so focused on the game and having no other worries besides doing what you need to do out there. I will never forget those nights because of the feeling it gave me walking out to the drums from the marching band and all my teammates by my side. Seeing the community of Oswego and the crowd of parents, teachers, students and my friends and family cheering for the team was a feeling that gave me so much to be proud of. Football and this football field specifically were a part of a hugely significant time in my life. Oswego East High School was an atmosphere where I spent countless summer mornings and late nights all for …show more content…
I would always imagine myself on an actual football field. I always wanted to know what it would be like. When I got a little older my parents decided it was time for me to play organizational football. I remember being so intimidated by the older players but also looking up to them in a way. I can only imagine myself then, a little 70-pound boy tossing around a football and trying to learn the game. It was then, on the football field when I really found the love for the game. Little did I or my parents know that this beginning experience on the football field as an eight-year-old was going to pave the way to many more experiences, memories, and helping to mold me into the person and player that I am today. Throughout elementary school and junior high, I worked hard in both football and basketball, but football was always the one thing that I knew was meant for me to do. I am so lucky to have parents that supported me. Both my mom and dad would be on the sidelines of every single game whether it was for basketball or football. They would sit in the bleachers watching many games in a row during a tournament or sit in the bipolar weather that football season

I love the sport of football and I always will. There is no doubt in my mind that this sport is the best one in the world. There are people though that do think otherwise. It does bother that some people don’t like sports and especially when it’s about football. Football requires a lot of attitude, discipline and the right state of mind, not everybody can go through it, it’s tough, it is tiring, but at the end it still gives me feelings that I can’t express, the victory, knowing that those practices under the hot sun were worth it, you don’t play for yourself, you play for your brothers on that field, hot or cold, raining or snowing, you give your best for them because they try the best for you.…

But for now, I stood on the other side of the rope, too young and too fragile to be one of them. Every Friday night, I sat in those stands at that magical stadium as I cheered on my favorite team with my dad. I always got there an hour early so I could take in the ambiance. Sitting in the semi-empty stadium, I watched as the players trickled out of the locker room to begin warming up while the stands started to fill up with students, parents, the band, the cheerleaders, and the belles.…

Throughout my lifetime I have had many experiences, some great, others, not so great, but no matter what, I have put full effort and commitment with everything that I have done. The most valued experience that I have is football. Football has shaped me into the person I am today and has laid a foundation in which I could build my values on. I started playing the game since I was in grade school. Till this day, the excitement of strapping on my pads and hearing the crack of the helmets has not changed one bit.…

From a young age, I always loved playing football; being out on the field is one of the best feelings ever. The adrenaline, hearing the crowd cheering, scoring touchdowns; it a rush that goes through my veins and I cannot get enough of it. I would play because I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how the simple game of football would change my life for the better. Growing up I used to see my friends come home from little league practice everyday on school days and that really used to make me mad. They used to get home when the street lights were on and we were not able to come outside and play at that time.…

The moment you step foot on the field you get that rush of this is where I belong. The bright lights in your face like the blazing sun in your eyes. The freshly new practice jersey and uniform having the smell of the downy softner with the sweat of hard work tieing it down and not letting go. The smell of the fresh cut grass that seeps into your nose like the fresh air. The found grass stains that have penetrated your uniform like a little green army that have marked their territory.…
