Football Failure Research Paper

American innovator and businessman Henry Ford once said, “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” An individual encounters countless failures in his or her lifetime. The failures can be evaluated and valuable life lessons can be learned from them. I have faced many failures throughout my life. One of the biggest failures I have faced was losing the sub-state championship football game my junior year. Losing the game taught me several life lesson such as studying and work ethic. My junior year of high school, my football team went into the season ranked number one in our division and the clear favorites to go all the way and win the state championship. Once our team received the ball, we could not move the ball on their defense. That seemed to be the story for the rest of the game, as they shut us out and yanked the win right from under us. The season had ended in a failure, but many lessons were learned. One of the lessons learned was to study. In the game of football, one of the most underrated parts of the game is studying film. To be able to study film will help in correcting the mistakes made. To be able to identify the mistakes made and to correct them is important to succeed in the future. This is an important lesson in life as well. Being able to come back with more knowledge and a better understanding helps prepare one for obstacles faced in the future. Another lesson learned was a good work ethic. An important part to becoming better at something is having a good work ethic. Looking back on the year, one thing I could have done better was exhibit a better work ethic. If I would have worked harder during the offseason and practices, there might have been a different result. This is important in any challenges faced in life.
