Often we believe that we have to stop eating all the things that we like and enjoy completely in order to have a healthy lifestyle. I am here to tell you that, you do not need to completely abandon all your favorite foods or recipes in order to maintain healthy eating habits. Healthy eating means consuming a range of aliments that provide the right nutrients you need in order to preserve good health and nourish the body. These nutrients comprise carbohydrates, fat, protein, water, vitamins, and minerals. It is still a public health issue, with approximately 38% of U.S. adults classified as obese. Based on the article, the American population consume roughly 32% of their calories from food away from home (FAFH). FAFHs are often extremely high in calories, total fat, saturated fat, sodium and added sugars, and less desirable nutrients such as calcium and iron as compared to homemade food. I wanted to use extra virgin oil but I ran out it, which is why I used coconut oil. The coconut oil is somehow better than vegetable oil because “most of the saturated fat of coconut oil is made up of medium chain triglycerides”, compared to long- chain triglyceride, which are found in vegetable oils. The saturated fat in coconut oils break down easily in the body, which makes it healthier than vegetable oils. I replaced sausages and hotdogs with shrimps. As we all know, shrimp is higher in numerous vitamins and minerals for instance selenium, copper, niacin, choline, and zinc. Shrimp is also a rich source of protein and contains less saturated fat and sodium than sausages. Eating shrimp is also good for the heart due to its content of omega-3- fatty acids. Moreover, I added some veggies and herbs as well just to add flavors and make it flavorsome while I keep it low in salt. I added baby bella mushroom, bell pepper, onion and tomatoes. The baby bella mushroom or creminis are low in fat, cholesterol-free and excellent source of vitamins and minerals. These mushrooms contain selenium which prevent
